Mandala

A mandala is a "sacred circle" containing symbols and images. It is sacred because it represents wisdom from the depths of its creator. Mandalas have been used by many cultures for centuries as a form of prayer, a graphic representation of inner feelings, or a healing tool. Along with European stained glass rose windows in cathedrals and native American prayer wheels, Eastern culture mandalas stem from the human desire for contact with the sacred. Most people make mandalas on paper while Tibetan monks make theirs in sand that is later scattered.

Stained Glass Mandala

We fabricate mandalas from blown colored glass by the traditional stained glass technique utilizing lead came between the pieces of glass. The beauty of the mandalas made this way comes from:

Mosaic Mandala

We fabricate mandalas from opalescent colored glass and ceramic materials by the traditional mosaic technique of cutting and shaping each piece one at a time. The pieces are secured to a substantial plywood backing and the work grouted with a color matching each section. These mosaic mandalas are suitable as wall hangings or table tops. Their beauty comes from:

Personal Glass Mandala

The personal glass mandala placed in its owner's meditation space is a beautiful focal point for calling to mind the inner truths expressed in the mandala language. As such, it is the perfect way to keep in touch with that special time, perhaps a time of healing or revelation, when the mandala design was conceived.

Speculative Glass Mandala

We sometimes make speculative mandalas simply for exhibition of our technical craft. We realize that these exhibit the natural and amazing beauty of stained glass and may only coincidentally match an individual's personal expression.
